There is something powerful about simply saying, “Thank You, God.”

Not because everything is perfect.
Not because every prayer has been answered.
Not because we know what tomorrow will bring.

But because God is still God.

As we move through the rest of August, we are focusing on gratitude—learning to recognize God's goodness in our lives, even when life doesn't look exactly the way we hoped it would.

đź’— Gratitude Changes Our Perspective

Sometimes we become so focused on what we don't have that we forget to appreciate what God has already placed in our hands.

We may be waiting for the new job, the answered prayer, the relationship, the house, the financial breakthrough, the healing, or the next opportunity.

And while we're waiting, God may be reminding us:

“Look at what I have already done.”

Gratitude doesn't mean that we ignore the things we are praying for. It means we can pray for more while still being thankful for what we have today.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Notice that Scripture doesn't say give thanks because everything is good.

It says give thanks in all circumstances.

There is a difference.

You can be going through something difficult and still find something to thank God for.

🌷 God Is Already In Your Tomorrow

One of the biggest things we have to surrender is worry about the future.

We don't know what tomorrow will bring.

We don't know how every situation will work out.

We don't know when certain prayers will be answered.

And honestly, sometimes that uncertainty can be scary.

But here's the beautiful thing:

We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds tomorrow.

God isn't surprised by your future.

He isn't standing in tomorrow wondering what He's going to do.

He is already there.

That means you don't have to spend today trying to figure out everything that will happen tomorrow.

Give God your future.

Give Him your plans.

Give Him your fears.

Give Him the questions you don't have answers to yet.

And then choose to trust Him.

🙏 Gratitude Is an Act of Trust

Sometimes we think gratitude is simply saying, “Thank you.”

But gratitude can be much deeper than that.

Gratitude says:

“God, I don't understand everything, but I trust You.”

“I don't know how this will work out, but I believe You are working.”

“I don't have everything I want, but I thank You for everything You've already given me.”

“I don't know what tomorrow looks like, but I know You will be there.”

That's faith.

And sometimes the most powerful prayer isn't a long prayer.

Sometimes it's simply:

“Lord, thank You. I trust You.”

🌼 Look Around

Today, stop for a moment.

Look around you.

Think about the things that you may have started taking for granted.

Your breath.

Your family.

Your children.

Your friendships.

Your home.

Your ability to work.

Your talents.

Your opportunities.

Your lessons.

Your growth.

Your strength.

The doors God opened.

The doors God closed.

The prayers He answered.

And even the prayers He's still working on.

There is something to be grateful for.

đź’• Don't Let the Future Steal Today

We can spend so much time worrying about what might happen that we miss what God is doing right now.

Don't let tomorrow steal today's joy.

You don't have to have the entire plan figured out.

You don't have to know every step.

You don't have to know how everything will happen.

Just take today's step.

Trust God with tomorrow.

And be grateful for today.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
— Matthew 6:34

🌸 A Gratitude Challenge

For the rest of August, let's make gratitude a daily practice.

Every morning, before reaching for your phone, say three things you're thankful for.

Every night, before going to sleep, think about one thing God did for you that day.

And when worry about the future begins to creep in, pause and say:

“God, I give You tomorrow. Thank You for today.”

You don't have to know everything.

You just have to trust the One who does.

🙏 A Prayer for Gratitude

Heavenly Father,

Thank You.

Thank You for waking me up today.
Thank You for another opportunity to live, love, grow, and become who You created me to be.

Forgive me for the times I become so focused on what I don't have that I forget to appreciate what You have already given me.

Teach me to have a grateful heart.

When I am worried about tomorrow, remind me that tomorrow belongs to You.

When I am afraid of what is ahead, remind me that You are already there.

When I don't understand what You're doing, help me trust Your plan.

Help me stop trying to control everything and learn to place my future in Your hands.

Thank You for the doors You have opened.

Thank You for the doors You have closed.

Thank You for the prayers You've answered.

And thank You for the prayers You're still working on.

Today, I choose gratitude.

Today, I choose faith.

Today, I choose to trust You.

I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know You hold tomorrow.

In Jesus' name,

Amen. 🤍
